INSTRUCTION FOR SETTING METAL EYELETS IN VICTORIAN CORSET
Tools: Narrow nosed pliers, small, sharp scissors, eyelet setting tool with handles
brass eyelets knitting needles.

1 Make the corset back 4 layers thick two layers being of canvas .Make a line of sewing about one and a half inches in from edge. Sew a seam further in from this one to put two stays either side.
2. Measure and mark out the holes for the eyelets with a cross in tailors chalk and mark with a pen the place where the holes will be. check that the two sides have the holes in the same places.
3. Make the hole the size of the post on the eyelet with a knitting needle and cut the threads with the scissors that get in the way. Do this gradually you don't want a hole took big!
4.Put the eyelet with the post at the bottom and fit the two sections together inside each other.
5 Use the eyelet tool to push the two sections together - push firmly but not
hard enough to damage them. When you have done them all do the cross-over lacing.

HAND SEWN EYELETS
Make the holes as above. Sew small running stitches very near to the edge of
the hole. Sew inside the hole by oversewing. It is not necessary to use
button- hole stitch as the corded-corset show below is not intended to pull-in the
waist, only to add shape.
